Welcome to the NEW Mold Finder Section

Grouping all of the 500+ Watt Pottery molds into logical categories has proven to be a huge challenge. I have chosen a three level approach with the top level as generic as possible. the second and third levels become increasingly more descriptive.

Watt Pottery On Line (WPOL) was designed with, and generated by dozens of complex data bases. I do have the ability to change things realatively easily and regenerate these pages. Kindly let me know what you think - feedback is ALWAYS welcome (actually expected). This is a community effort and I need to know from you how to make things better and easier to navigate.

Kindly send comments to WPOL WebMaster.

Mold Categories

I stuggled to make the Mold Categories friendly to the novice Watt enthusiast as well as to the more advanced enthusiasts. There are some suttle changes that the seasoned Watt enthusiasts may need to get used to. My intent was to make the language of Watt as easy to learn for the novice enthusiasts as possible. I hope that this approach is welcomed and appreciated by all.

Below is a quick overview and description of the new WPOL mold Categories. The green buttons located on the right will take you to directly to the second level. Enjoy and send me your comments.

Bowls

The largest of all the categories. To make life easier for all, if it is open (no lid - and no recess for a lid) then it is a bowl. There is no such thing as an open baker or nappy at this level - that comes in later.

Covered Pieces

This is the second largest Category. Of the 530 molds that Watt made - over 180 of them were sold with lids. At this level, there are no casseroles or covered bakers - that (again) comes later.

Non Dinner Ware

A clever catch all that Dennis Thompson coined - includes all pieces that you would (should) not find on a dinner table. Animal dishes, knife sharpeners, and planters are some of the pieces that you wil find here.

Other Table Ware

This was my chance to be clever - I puzzled for days to come up with a descriptive name for the pieces that did not fit into the other categories. If anyone out there has a better name for shakers, sugars, cruets, cups, mugs, tumblers, and warmers - please let me know. For now, Other Table Ware will have to do.

Pitchers

Includes all pieces that have a pouring spout. The Watt Pottery made 65 different molds with spouts - how many of them can you name of the top of your head? Don't feel bad - I only got 13 the first time I tried.

Plates

Includes all pieces that are less than 2 inches deep. From Dinner Plates to Platters to Pie Plates - you will find them listed here.

Stoneware

Includes all of the early Jugs, Crocks, Butter Churns, and Preserve Jars of the early days of Watt Pottery.
